Re:AIS: irisregister.com

I have a question about copyright law:
the copyright notice in the 99 checklist says <no part of this book> may
be reproduced.

Does that mean we can't discuss pedigrees in writing with one another,
or even names of irises without explicit written permission from AIS?
Does it mean that I can't search the database, get a list of Lloyd Z's
introductions and send it to him?

Or does it just mean we can't sell the information or make multiple
copies of it?

What exactly is meant by <part of this book>? An exact print copy of a
page or part of a page?

My experience with copywrite stuff has to do with scientific
publications, where data, once published, are available for anybody to
use, if properly cited. Or to making copies of copywrited material for
educational purposes, which is supposedly exempt from copywrite
protection. Or to using excerpted figures, where both permission of the
author and the scientific publication are required.

Since we (including AIS) is referring to the content of <this book> as a
database, and all of the discussion has been about educational use, I
have been thinking of it that way.

Apologies if this has been discussed/answered before.
