Dogs can be a good deterrent. When I was growing up, we were never bothered
by them, though we could see them in and on the stone walls across the road.
There was often a dog or two out in the yard, and, believe me, traffic was
not a deterrent to keep them on the other side of the road. To see 10 cars
was a busy day on that road.
