There are no chill hours to report. While you add for cold temperatures, you subtract for every hour over 60F. No need to report negative chilling hours.

I haven't done that, but I did notice that the website includes a
graphic (map) farther down the page with isolines for chill that
indicates there are some chilling hours in southern CA and none in
southeast Texas or southern FL

Oops - I just noticed that I didn't include the link to the original
website that has all the stuff about chill, including the isoline map - it's

<http://blog.coldspringsfarmcsa.com/>

So the calculator for chill (including the Utah model?) apparently
doesn't work in dry climates? Or just doesn't work in the southwest?

Chuck, do you know enough about the calculations for the Utah model to
say why it doesn't work for southern CA?

The website says the Utah model is a 'weighted average' of the hours
below 45oF and hours between freezing and 45o. Maybe they mean averaged
over several years? Which doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I would
think the chill hours would be simply the cumulative hours between
freezing and 45.

Chuck, any idea On 11/5/2014 10:11 PM, Chuck Chapman wrote:
