Yes, I scraped away the rot before using bleach, carefully
discarded all debris from the operation. It worked on all
but the first two. One was too far gone to even try. The
other had lots of increase, but just continued to get the
stuff. It would respond and grow a couple of days then
start the rot again. I had lots to work with, but it persisted
in rotting. Scraping, bleaching, drying, potting three times
in fresh soil (even microwaved soil once) and it still rotted.
What a rotter! Please know that I have more than 200
beardeds currently planted, including those from past years
and had only ten cases of rot on newly acquired rhizomes.
If past experience is any indicator, I would never have it
again unless I make new acquisitions. That's probable,
to say the least.
