The article in question is "Plumed Delight" and is printed on pp. 42-44 of
the April, 1997 AIS Bulletin. Your recollection of the effects of crossing
SA's with each other are quite consistent with what George Sutton says in
this article. He does go on to add, "if you are willing to put up with a
lot of failures, you can occasionally get some extraordinary seedlings from
this type of cross".

Right again! There are no plicatas among the named ancestors in the first
four generations of CONJURATION's pedigree. I guess it could be described
as a bicolor/bitone with a zonal pattern in the falls.
