Re: Planting an iris garden

Deb -- Responding to Linda Mann's request on your behalf: I'm attaching a
schema to show how an iris should be planted. (1) Dig a good, deep hole and
make a mound of soft earth in the center; (2) place the rhizome (like a
tuber with roots) on top of the mound, spreading the roots out and down; (3)
fill the hole, covering the rhizome with about 1/2 inch of dirt and press
down firmly all around, leaving the rhizome near enough to the surface that,
when you water it in, the watering process will just about expose the
surface of the rhizome to the air. This should work in your climate. --

inches. There are roots with the foliage plants, no roots for what I
divided. I planted them with the top of the rhizome showing. Thank you.
