Linda, let us know how this works for you.  Sounds cheaper than the  metal 
tags/labels I'm currently using.  I've learned to push these into the  ground 
much farther than before.  They are really for my own use only, and  I find they 
are better when the name plate is just above the ground.  Not  as likely to 
get into a lawn mower or other equipment.  
 
What are you using to write on the tags/labels?  I'm still using the  fine 
point paint marker made by the people that make Elmer's glue.   Pencil/graphite 
has also worked well on the metal tags, but isn't as serviceable  on the 
blinds.  It is harder to read from an upright position, even on the  metal.  
 
Not sure how the wax based pencils have worked . . . I didn't document or  
limit their use to a given area and can't identify the tags where I used  them.  
Did they start to look like paint and blend in?  Or did they  fade off and 
look like the few I used magic marker on?  Magic  marker was only a temporary 
fix, but then I forgot to go back and redo  the tags.  Good thing I make really 
good/detailed garden charts?   <vbg>
