Not exactly. In the NE USA, Louisianas are prime hosts for the iris borer.
And while there may be no iris rust in Oz, it does attack LAs here.
But LAs would definitely be my choice for any garden south of DC in the
piedmont or coastal plain. Easily less than half the trouble of fungal
spotted, rot-prone TBs!
