I'm not too keen on using <<chemicals>>, but for the sake of the borer
discussion, I'll pass this along. I received the following from a fellow
irisarian recently:
> I would like to pass an experience which may or may not help
> you if you have a bore problem with Japanese or Lousiana iris. Last year I
> noticed a severe infestation of bore in my LA bed. I started to dig out the
> bore from the rhizomes since they were already past the leaf eating
> stage. There was no way I could get them all, so I decided to sprinkle on
> some Diazinon granulars over the bed. It couldn't hurt! This year, I did
> not get around to spraying early in the spring, but as I proceeded to dig
> the LA bed up last week to redo it, there was no sign of any iris borer what
> so ever.
Please don't shoot the messenger. <Grin>
