I talked about iris borers with a gentleman at work today, and he says that
he has never had a problem with borers, he has never even seen one. He is
not a big iris maniac like the rest of us, but he does have a rather large
garden. Upon further discussion of the subject I found out that decades
ago someone told him he should mow his irises over with the lawnmower in
early October to help them through the winter. And so he has always done
just that. We came to the conclusion that without him realizing it, he was
eliminating the borers that were probably there all along. What do the
rest of you think? Should I mow down my irises?
