Dear Isarians
First apologies, have tried to e-mail some of you privately in
response to your kind messages but with me at the wheel its a
hit/miss situation.
Having had several mini springs throughout the year, the TBs finally
started to flower this month and they have been brilliant and so have
the roses. Defintely the best season ever. Queen of the garden has
been Mary Frances. Beautiful big blooms, delicate scent, masses of
buds, looks great in the garden and equally good indoors and has
gone on and on. Reading KathyGuests injunction, (thank you Kathy) I
menaced Silverado with the trowel with instant success, the very
next day there was a promising bulge and she too has been quite
prolific. The spin off from the menace was that Honky Tonk Blues who
had made no increase during the year with only one or two very large
leaves, suddenly shot up a bloom stalk. Wonderful flowers - one
could imagine an exquisite chiffon evening dress. I was a tad
miffed (read ABSOLUTELY LIVID) when what should have been Babbling
Brook turned out be Edenite but now I love that too. Bonuses were
Unicorn that I thought had attrited suddenly reappeared, Persian
Berry which had had to be moved when the spaniel did serious
excavating, gave three beautiful flowers in the original bed
Dr Zurbrigg's lovely Sugar Blues is flowering and so on and so forth.
It would be great if Quaker Lady and Immortality produced this year
but I can wait.
All the best from SA
Sally Guye
