iris picture rights

I would like to say that I have hundreds if not
thousands of pictures I've swiped from the internet on
my computer of irises. I do recognize that Laurie's
pictures are her pictures and I think she makes her
case by inserting copyright symbols and her name on
many of her pictures I believe.

I use the pictures to judge which new plants I'd like
to try in my garden. I have only so much room and I
can no longer spare the room to just get plants I have
no idea what they look like, or by the description,
etc...

I do keep those pictures I take from the net in a
separate folder from my own pictures. As soon as the
iris I have blooms I replace the swiped pic with one
of my own--much better picture anyway since it wasn't
compressed to 100k or less.

I did ask Laurie permission some time ago about using
some of her pics for a season in the garden to sell
some plants if someone looked through my pictures I
have in a binder. She said no, I didn't want to pay a
bunch of money to borrow a picture for one season till
I had my own picture to sell a couple plants. I
respected her decision and didn't use those pictures.
(I also didn't sell any of those plants because I did
not have a picture that year)

There are also hundreds of irises I don't carry any
more, and like to keep pics of them on my computer
when I find them. That's where the internet has
provided me with pictures of iris I can't get
anywhere.

For my own personal use. I think that's the key thing
here.
