Thinking back to bloom time I suddenly realized that our PBF here in Stockton has been more charcoal than the shade of purple it was in partial shade in San Jose. ( our iris grow in an open field with no hint of shade) I think that there may be more than one pigment involved in PBF. Like all pigments I am sure its also affected by soil conditions and seasonality also
