Re: HYB: REF: umbrata (was Wine And Roses etc

Ok, Neil, I think I finally got it (again?). Spent the afternoon going
through a few Blyth pedigrees that didn't have way too many embedded
seedling generations. I think that's something you suggested I do back
the last time (or time before that?) we hashed over this subject. I
didn't go all the way back, just what was in the online database.

One of my crosses that should bloom next spring (lots of multifanned
healthy seedlings) is PINK FORMAL X FOREIGN KNIGHT (Blyth 96) standards
oyster, falls rose red w oyster wire rim.

Looks pretty much like at least <one> parent all the way back is
umbrata.

I also did the same for C SONG X ARMAGEDDON (Tompkins 92). Both
seedlings that have bloomed so far are umbrata. Hard to tell about C
SONG, but as with FOREIGN KNIGHT, at least <one> parent all the way back
is umbrata. I know there is general scepticism about the accuracy of
some (all?) of Tompkins' pedigrees, but what the heck..

The pink ground umbrata pattern does look dominant.
