BETTY FRANCES (C. Mahan, R. 1988). Sdlg 0184A. TB, 34" (86 cm), ML. Fluted
very pale violet (RHS 85D), giving appearance of near white with sea
lavender throat; medium violet beard; sea lavender styles; slight
fragrance. Navy Strut X Lacy Snowflake. Iris Pond 1989
Barb, et all -- you will notice that in this case the cultivar was
*REGISTERED* by Clarence Mahan in 1988. This reserved the name and BF was a
registered, named seedling rather than going under the appelation 'Sdlg
0184A'.
Then, in 1989 the cultivar, BETTY FRANCES had her coming out party and was
*INTRODUCED* to commerce via a catalog published by Clarence Mahan. (His
world famous commercial nursery business "The Iris Pond' where catalogs
sell for the paltry sum of $2,000.00 US.)
