Re: Eriobotrya "Coppertone"

Alessandra writes of E. Coppertone in the La Londrina
gardens, and I want to second that this is a highly
ornamental small tree which is virtually everblooming
here in California. The tree is a hybrid between one
of Rhaphiolepia species, and combines the new bronzy
foliage of an Eriobotrya deflexa with the pink flowers
of Indian Hawthorn. The hybrid Rhaphiolepis 'Majestic
Beauty' is similar in habit, but without the bronzy
new leaves. Both are very nice small trees or large
shrub standards with very long bloom season and
understated good evergreen habit.
