What is Mediterranean?

As well as winter wet and summer hot and dry, should add that frost is very
rare in a true Med climate - though most of us who try to grow Med plants
have to put up with some! Some typically Mediterranean plants won't
tolerate their winter temperature dropping below 37 deg F (3 deg C) more
than occasionally. From the hardiness point of view, Zones 9 and 10 are
equivalent to the temperature ranges found around the Mediterranean.
