Not exactly a mediterranean plant. Comes from could forests of central
Mexico. I don' know what its exact habitat is in Mexico, but would guess
is of the cool at night, warm in the day variety. Likes filetered shade
in San francisco, and regular water. Won't tolerate freezing much,
either. I have seen them to about 1 meter high and almost as wide, but
rather open. You could grow small things under it along the edges.
