RE: Choosing a tree

Alexandre,
You are correct that Tipuana tipu will get very wide
and tall with time. It would be helpful to know what
size of tree you have in mind for this spot, as some
of the trees that Sean listed are on the smaller side,
while others will also get quite big with time. Do
you want the tree to be a mediterranean native, be
showy in bloom, be evergreen or deciduous? These are
some of the decisions to be made that would help you
narrow the list.

Since you are in the Algarve area, and your climate is
a USDA zone 10, you might also consider some
subtropical trees such as Jacaranda mimosifolia,
Tabebuia chrysotricha or T. impetiginosa, Arbutus
canariensis or A. 'Marina', Robinia pseudoacacia
'Fisia' or R. p. 'Purple Robe', or Sapium sebiferum,
or Pistachia chinensis. All of these trees are in the
range of 30 to 45 feet tall by 30 to 40 feet across
with maturity.

Bom sucesso com sua escolha, a selecion de uma arvore
deve ser feito com armor e bastante pensamento, porque
pode durar muitos anos.
