Its in the Scrophulariaceae and very distantly related to Antirrhinums
(snapdragons) etc. Many species are semi or totally aquatic, but the
sub-shrubby forms - probably more correctly known as Sutera, do very
well as 'carpet bedding'. I've also used them in hanging planters
(baskets) and given half a chance, they form a neat, but substantial,
pendulous mass of tiny, pale lilac flowers lasting well into early
winter. There's also quite a pleasant form with white flowers called
'Snowflake'.
