hardy palm?

Hi all,

In Holland we try to keep some species of palms alive OUT SIDE!
We live in a so called zone 7 area. Trachycarpus fortunei is one of the
hardy species which survives here (protected in some cases). I know that
there are other hardy species (Rhapidophylum, Sabal, Nannorops etc.).

Just recently a friend of mine obtained a Serenoa repens. This weedy palm
can be found in some parts of Florida if I am well informed.
Is there anyone on the list who can tell more about the chances of this
species in a zone 7 area?

Thanks.
