It certainly was not I that raised this interesting idea ! It was Sean as far as I remember, (although I do remember saying I thought it was a good one.)
Perhaps we should form (dread c......... word , I won't use it) some sort of "off-shoot" group, of those interested and available in organising such an event ?
And when we have a definite programme we could come back to the main "stem" and see who is interested ?

I must confess, it was I who raised this idea originally, and I have been working on it since. And yes, there is no reason to clutter up the medit-plants forum with planning such an event (though I know several members would like to avail themselves of participation when the event become solid).

As lead/lecturer, I am thinking of fall 2005 or spring 2006 at the earliest, but there is a lot to figure out in the meantime so I wonder if this might be too soon!! ;-) Perhaps, if the fates smile upon me, I will be able to make visits to the area in the meantime to research/confirm some of the plans.

The Languedoc region is vast, and diverse - lots of interesting things to see/do. Whittling all these possibilities down to some sort of manageable itinerary is a challenge. There is also enough to possibly vary the itinerary from year to year. From a Californian's point of view, this is surprisingly uncharted territory! (folks from these parts routinely visit a variety of other destinations in France)

If anyone is interested in discussing the concept of this event further, please don't hesitate to contact me directly. I am very open to any idea regarding the Languedoc flora, fauna, geography, cultural history, art & architecture, cuisine, etc.

Thanks,
Seán O.
