Re: Tanacetum haradjanii

In answer to Jim's question about Tanacetum haradjanii. It is one of the best
gray leaved plants in my central coast garden. Each plant has been there for
about four years and has spread to about a three foot diameter. The winter
rains do make for a bit of rotting in spots but I clean it up and the plant
looks fine all summer. I take off the yellow flowers. New plants have formed
(rooted) around the circumference and I might try moving some this year. The
plants are in the front of a slightly raised bed and make a lovely effect
spilling over the path.I have had less luck with T. Beth Chatto. It was in
the garden for two years, never grew much, broke apart in the middle, and
finally moved on to the compost heap. Perhaps I should have tried growing it
on gravel as does its namesake. I am interested in trying new (to me) gray
leaved plants--so any suggestions would be valuable. I bought Othonna
cheirifolia at Merritt this fall--nothing to report yet.
