you should see our neighbors maple tree (i think it might be a norway
maple). Anyways every year they trimmed its branches back into ugly
stubs, and long pole like branches are now growing fromt he stubs. Our
new neighbors havent trimmed it, so im wiating to see how big it will
get before they trim it. That tree is resillient, a while back it had
gotten rammed into by a drunk driver, and it only has a small wound
about four feet up the trunk. The neighbors covered the wound in tar,
and now its healing over.

I dislike that gumdrop landscape many californians admire also!.
Anyways about the rock garden look, theres a house in town that has
their ENTIRE front yard covered in nothing but red rock. No plants, not
even in a geometric design. Its so ugly and dry looking. I guess they
didnt want to have to deal with yardwork. Theres not even one tree on
the property either/
