san francisco & monterey

Dear all,
A favour please - a good friend of mine will be visiting San Francisco & Monterey for 3 weeks from the 19th July. Can you suggest some gardens to visit - she is particularly interested in Californian natives. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
 
An old one this - Jacaranda - what's the chance of it flowering in the UK ?  - Dave ?
