Very odd indeed as Mark and I are both on iol.ie and live only 50 miles
apart...the message reached me ok!

Tree tubes in England are opaque plastic or perspex cylinders ( I have only
seen them from a car) which are around 2 ft high and are fitted round young
trees .They are commonly used by county councils planting verges of dual
carriage ways and motorways and have three main functions...they protect the
saplings from rabbit attack, from humans overenthusiastically wielding
strimmers close to them and from weed -strangulation.I imagine they are
available in Ireland too though I don't recall seeing them here.
