photos (was Xanthorrhoea quadrangulata)

Hi folks -

I am sure that Judy meant no harm, and I understand what a problem it is for some of you on this list to download attachements. Yes, we'd like to discourage everyone from e-mail attachments (sorry you got caught in this, Judy!).

In answer to Nan's coincidental posting about a place to share photos - yes, there are a variety of places to share photos on the web. These site support themselves by orders of photographic prints from the photos placed for free on their site. I've visited many, tried a number of them, and even tried one just now in response to this incident here on medit-plants. They can be a bit confusing to use and are full of ads and 'ORDER NOW' distractions.

I've placed Judy's photo (reduced by half) on the website at:
http://www.mediterraneangardensociety.org/photos/Xanthorrhoea.quadrangulata.jpg (quite a nice specimen, Judy!)

If you do not have a web space of your own, and would prefer not to use the services mentioned above, I am happy to do this for others as well. I can receive photos as e-mail attachments without much trouble and then mount them on the web for you. I would then provide you with the URL to put into your medit-plants message (just as I have done here).

Sorry for the trouble and expense some of you experienced, thanks to Valerie for explaining the problem without anger, and my sympathy to Judy who became this time's victim of this recurring problem!

Regards,
Seean O.

Your file was 774kB and was probably a huge un-edited graphic from a
digi-camera. Please be aware some of us connect by mobile cell phone at
9600 bps as we live in the campo (Spain) and do not have copper wire
connectivity. Broadband, wide band, ASDL or any other form of fast
connection are just unknown to us. Please don't start a trend of
broadcasting pictures otherwise we'll have to resign from the list. And
when you do send them please compress them or reduce them in size.
