Re: Melianthus nectar

Well, according to plantzafrica.com's page on the plant, the leaves
are toxic: http://www.plantzafrica.com/plantklm/melianthusmajor.htm. I
find their strange peanut butter-like smell odd, but not exactly
unpleasant.Reminds me of the scent of poison hemlock, but I find that
to be this sickly nutty odor and hate being around stands of that when
growing. I digress. Anyway, yes, I did know that the plant's common
name is honey bush, but with common names one still can't be sure
whether they're safe or not. I ask mostly because I see conflicting
reports about whether the nectar is toxic or not.
