Dear all,
thank you for all the nice and interesting answers
that I got about composting i Greece!
I was not sure whether to stop or not, but now
after all the information that I got and my own discoveries lately I shall
certainly continue. After digging in one of the two compartment in my
closed compost, I saw that I have been adding way too much water in
the summer when I thought the compost was too dry.
A closed compost doesn't need that much extra water since very little evaporates through the openings. The top layer was very good, but the rest soggy and I shall have to remove the surplus water somehow and also add some soil or peat to suck up the rest. The cockroaches are gone now for some reason, and the second compartment which I am using now looks Ok. Gardening here is so exciting and different from
Sweden. I find it very exciting, and am very greatful for any tips on plants and
trees that do well in southern Greece, and also on where to get hold of them as
the nurseries really have very little to offer.
Kind regards,
Gunnar Dath
