I like Sunset Magazine's Western Garden CD, where a voice actually
pronounces the genus name out loud if you press the right button. It
doesn't help for species, and some would argue with the Sunset
pronounciation, but it works for me.

While Sunset doesn't actually set out rules, after a while I started
understanding what the underlying rule must be that would lead to that
pronounciation.
