Re: fire?

Great idea. At Tilden Regional Botanic Garden in Berkeley, CA (an exclusively CA native plant garden) they routinely burn many of their grasses in order to dethatch them. They use a modified propane torch that looks much like a weed wacker.

We are sensitive to "intentional" fires here in California.

They can get out of hand.

I got to wondering, could one cut the bottom out of a garbage can, place it over the bush and then set fire to it? ---Chas---
