Hello Janet,
I do not live and garden in the UK, but I do have some clumps of
helleborus that are at least 12 years (probably a bit more) old now... they
just keep on getting better and better each year. No dying out in the
middle, solid mass of foliage and blooms, ever so slowing spreading outward
in circumference.
I don't think hellebores begin coming into their own until they are at
least 5 or 6 years old in the garden.Perhaps they will end up being the
"peony of the shade garden"
