In a message dated 4/3/2006 7:52:40 AM Central Standard Time,I use a CAD drawing program (there are also landscaping programs available to do the same thing) to create a plot plan of my garden and place the various plantings on it. I print out the plan. and keep it in a three ring notebook. I also keep a garden diary on my computer using MS Word (you could just as well use Corel Word Perfect). I can print this out as well and keep it in the same three ring notebook. If I buy a plant retail it usually has a plant tag that I scan with my flatbed scanner and place in the Word garden diary. I now use a digital camera (I formerly used a 35mm camera) to take pictures of the garden at various stages. I insert some of these in the Word garden diary. I make prints (or have prints made) and keep them in the same three ring notebook. Works great. I not only have the info on my computer in the form of files in a garden folder, but also have hard copies in an easily accessible notebook.

Have any of you found a satisfactory (or even close to it) garden
journal in which you can record what is planted where and how it is
doing for at least five years.
Hi, Nancy:
I use a loose-leaf 3 ring binder and have found nothing to equal it. I can
also easilyl paste pix onto pages and insert extra info as it occurs to me at a
later date. It's the most accomodating method I've found. Pockets inside of
the binder allow for temporary storage of add'l. info.
I'm curious to hear others' ideas...good question!
