From the discussion about zoysia and flower beds:

Whoo, boy, am I sorry to hear this! We have a spot near our house that
we are planning to regrade (because of drainage problems) and sod. I
know I definitely don't want bermuda grass (nasty stuff) and had planned
on zoysia. There are two flower beds bordering this area, both are
bordered with rock set in mortar. So, I don't want to use zoysia,
either? Anybody know anything about centipede grass? What if I used
some of those "pound-in" edging pieces and sunk them all the way
underground around the perimeter of the beds? They are 4 or 5 inches
tall. Would that keep the grass out of the beds?
I like the idea of thyme, but think we really need to sod...otherwise,
everything will wash away.
(Hey Chris, grass is a perennial ground cover, right? So it's okay for
this list???
