I have been buying buddleias new every year; buddleia davidii or butterfly bush.
It comes in whites, lilacs and pinks, and my favorite color - a deep purple in
the cv. 'Black Knight'. They bloom from summer to fall and get about 4 to 6 feet
tall for me, but do not make it through my winter even with protection. They are
listed as hardy in zones 5 - 9. I envy those of you in warmer climes!
I also love the bonus of the butterflies - they love the flowers, so buddleias
provide a double pleasure.
Last year, I did take cuttings and they rooted well, and I have managed to keep
the cuttings alive under lights in the basement. So, if all goes well, soon I'll
be hardening them off and putting them outside.
