Re: Residual effects of Roundup now fertilizers

Anne,

1. Have used Gardens Alive fertilizers (they stick to 100% organic and
don't sell any other kind)and were pleased with the results, although
they are very very expensive and I think you might shop around on the net
for similar organic fertilizers that would cost less. Right now I am
using liquid fish emulsion that has kelp in it to balance out the NPK and
the plants love it, so am not buying the GA stuff. Example on price: this
is identical to GA's Sea Rich, and when I bought it by the gallon from
the manufacturer it cost about the same as one quart of Sea Rich.
Identical NPK composition. (Smells the same too :-( !

I don't know why they don't list the NPK in their catalogue but they do
on the bags. Is always low, since purely organic fertilizers are, but the
plants seem to thrive on it. (e.g. the Sea Rich is 3-2-2).

I've tried using Gardens Alive's system for apples and can only say this:
it's better than doing nothing, and you are not going to have store
quality apples. Just a lower percentage of damage, which of course is all
you need if the apples are for your own use and you are legitimately
concerned about pesticides in your food. If the 24 trees are all for your
own use, you may well be able to skip the spraying all together and just
pick the good ones for yourself and leave the rest for the birds.

It might be worth buying something from GA just to get their catalogue, a
great read and a real education in plant growth, pests and pest control
and disease control from an organic perspective.

BTW, their WOW will only work on weeds that haven't germinated yet, so it
won't clear off your ground.
