I really love orange and purple together. I accidently did it with cosmos
this year and it was striking. Around these cosmos were 'Paul's Salvia'
(magenta purple), purple coneflowers, canna 'Bengal Tiger' (orange flowers),
hyssop 'Apricot Sunrise', and a butterfly bush called 'Royal Red' which is
really a raspberry color. I also have silver artemesia 'Powris Castle' at the
front of the bed for contrast. All of these are not true purples, but in the
family. I would like to create a garden witih more saturated orange and
purple next year. I love color and my garden is a distance from the house and
I like to be able to see color from the windows.
Has anyone grown the daylily 'Nordic Night'? It is a dark purple and
blooms early. It also got the white streaks on the flower petals in my
garden.
Question...do leaves slightly mottled with yellow mean that the plant is
too dry? My coneflowers have had this and July was a huge drought month for
us here.
