Re: August is a hard month

Up here in southern Ontario the Phlox paniculata is blooming. Depending on
the cultivar it may be anywhere from barely started to flower to slightly
past it's prime as of today. We are in the midst of a drought which appears
to be ending-forecast is for rain the next couple of days. Without the
drought roses would be blooming heavily here in my garden.
As well as white coneflowers (which I am not too fond of ) the normal pinks
are blooming well and I have them planted near Rudbeckia "Goldsturm" for
what I regard as a very attractive colour combination but others may not.
My lance-leaf coreopsis is also doing quite well if you need a good splash
of yellow and red, and the scabiosa I bought earlier in the year are covered
in small white flowers.
