moving dicentra

one of my mistakes last fall was planting 3 dicentra in a spot that is
shady in the spring and early summer but gets a full blast of afternoon
sun and heat in the mid summer.
The past couple of weeks have scorched this fragile plant and its down to
a few yellowed and many brown leaves from its former luxuriant growth.
I have a rose I want to put there..a remembrance of my father from a
thoughtful friend.
Is it too early to carefully dig up the roots of the dicentra, perhaps
divide and pot them up for over wintering (I'd most likely leave them on
the deck in the shade where they would get normal sun and watering
