I will assume that these are not the true Geranium, but the Pelargonium used
for bedding and houseplants. I like to Air layer mine just below where the
foliage starts. When the bag is filled with roots I cut it off below the
plastic bag and rootball, remove the bag and plant it. The remaining stem
often throws off more side sprouts from the base. When it does I cut the big
stem down and allow the side sprouts to mature into a nice plant. An
alternative is cutting the bare stem about 5" down below of the first set of
leaves, drying the cut surface for a day and dipping it in rooting powder to
root it. Either way you get 2 plants out of it!
