Ah! In this case, you probably have the hardy, HERBACEOUS hibiscus,
Hibiscus moscheutos or perhaps H. militaris (There are a couple of other
herbaceous species found mainly in the South). I had (mistakenly) assumed
you were talking about one of the woody hibiscus. In this case, your plant
shoud still be hardy, but be aware that it will break dormancy very late in
the spring, perhaps not sprouting until early June. These plants, often
called marsh mallows, to like moist or even damp soil.
