Here in Wisconsin, we have the "fortune" of having both bindweed and
nightshade. Fortunately, the nightshade has rather shallow roots and is
easy to pull out, tho complete eradication is nigh onto impossible. The
berries of nightshade (Solanum dulcamera) are considered poisonous, but as
attractive and common as they are, I have yet to hear of a serous
poisoning, much less lethality occurring from ingesting them. I'm not
saying that this has not occurred, but only that it is not common. I
suspect that the berries are not sweet, so that a taste of only one or two
might only result in an upset stomach, and hence not generally reported.
