Margaret,
You're right! After going to the Internet, it is the flea beetle, and I
see that Sevin will kill them. Due to an unfortunate incident I had one
year with the Sevin killing some plants (mix was too strong), I'd just
prefer not to use it. Your idea about covering the plants until mid-summer
seems like a better idea, because after reviewing some web sites, I see
that the momma beetle will lay eggs in the soil next to the host plant. If
I can prevent that, I think that I've gone a long way towards keeping
healthy plants.
Thanks for your suggestion. My daughter can have her flowers this year
again.
