Does anyone notice how plants thank you for showing them love and
attention and having a kind word with them every now and again?
This response is out of all proportion to the cost and I believe it
is what separates the good gardeners/growers from the bad. There is
even a reference to this in the "Ball Red Book" concerning the grower
who simply cannot bear to see a plant that is in need (be it for
water, fertilizer or whatever) and must fix it that instant.
This type of plant - man relationship reaps many rewards for both
parties and I am sure prompts the responses about plant feelings when
it is absent.
