I like the candytuft for texture and flowering habit. Two negatives:
First, it should be pruned hard!!! after flowering, once it gets
established. Secondly, if any brass takes hold in the plant - forget it.
Immpossible to eradicate. The plant does divide easily, and lends itself
to planting allium or other hardy bulbs for additional interest.

Candytuft is very inexpensive to buy established plants at HQ et al. Make
sure you do not have the annual variety

I also like Artemesia - silver mound. It must be divided each spring to
maintain the globe shape, and only requires one light shearing each year.
