I planted 2 Blue Cohash (Caulophyllum thalictroides) this spring, one at the front of the house in fairly deep shade, and the other at the side where it gets afternoon sun, and quite a bit of light the rest of the day. Have never grown this before, and both are looking rather sick. One has gone brown (but not crisp) and the other is getting very spotty. Also looks like a sprout is coming up at the base. Any idea whats happening? Everything around it seems reasonably happy, or at least as happy as anything can be in this heat. Label says best in shade or part shade, and their soil is "average". I think (but can't remember for sure) that I might have given them a sprinkle of slow release fertilizer when they were planted.
Thanks for any help
