Re: dahlia question

I have been able to keep dahlia tubers for years, and every early
spring, I put them in soil and they sprout! even when I don't see the
little white growths that prove the desiccated-seeming tubers are alive.

I used to put them in sand after drying and cleaning them off. Then one
year I was too busy, so they just went into a box with a cover, after
being dried and cleaned off. The following spring they were all right,
so that's what I've been doing since.

I keep the box in the cellar, away from the one radiator there, in a
dark corner.

They don't freeze, but they don't get warm either.

Now, if only they'd blossom.
