Last November I dug out my 2 dwarf pink cannas (Home Depo variety) , put
them in the plastic bags covered with very slightly moist peatmoss and
placed them in the corner of the basement in semidarkness. In January I
noticed about 2 feet long, almost white, very sickly looking stems sticking
out of both bags. I potted the poor things in the 10" pots and put them in
my cool (50F) greenhouse. I had blooming cannas in early May with beautiful
leaves and flowers. Of course I planted them out too early and some leaves
got scorched but both plants are blooming almost non stop ever since. Not
that I recommend this treatment.... Cheers, Sophie
