I am particularly of the brilliantly beautiful color or gaillardia, v.
Burgundy, a lovely almost coral red. (I always wondered why they called it
"Burgundy"). The lovely, lt. scarlet Potentilla, v. "Miss Wilmot" is almost
glowing. it, too is one of my favorites. I also appreciate the lovely scarlet
oriental poppies, even if they do have a limited bloom period.
Daylilies of particularly good color include "James Marsh" & it's descendant
"BloodSpot". a lovely coral red one is old "Prussia". Also "My Ways" from
Gilbert Wild.
Dahlias, Cannas & Gladiolas can be perennial, here, if mulched heaviuly
enough & planted in a protected spot. Ours do well in a walled spot. they ll
come in lovely shades of red.
I also use a few roses, including old "Tropicana". "South Seas" &* "Ole" also
are close in color.
