I have never pinched back my Shasta's, but perhaps that is why I have so few
blooms.  I know there are many plants that should be pinched (and it is on my
'to do' list for next season) back, but when spring finally arrives and
everything is growing, I hate to do it!  However, one plant I did pinch back
are my fall blooming asters.  Last year they bloomed, but were so leggy I had
to stake them.  This year I hope the pinching back will do the trick and plus
have great blooms.  
Keep us updated with those Shasta's Jeanne.  Just remember, next year, pinch
back!  I will too!
